Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 is relaunching on the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. It’s been eight years since the game’s initial release and fans of the game may be excited to re-experience the Xenoverse in next-gen consoles. Prepare to take over the universe as players grind their way to the top to become the strongest fighter.

Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 PS5 and Xbox Series X|S Release Date

Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 is coming to the PS5 and Xbox Series on May 24, 2024. It’s worth noting that Japanese PS5 owners will get the game a day earlier on May 23, 2024.

The game initially launched back in 2016, one year after its predecessor was released. What makes the game unique from other Dragon Ball games is that players can create their own fighters and power up to over 9,000. The game also follows the story of a player’s custom character wherein they take on several quests and challenges as they progress.

Gameplay

In Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2, players have the freedom to explore Conton City and interact with many of the franchise’s iconic characters. Z Fighters like Goku, Gohan, and Krillin will be there to support players and guide them through their journey to becoming the strongest fighters.

Given that the game focuses on building custom characters, players have access to a wide selection of customization options to come up with a look suited to their liking. Aside from appearances, their character’s move sets are fully customizable as well. This allows everyone to create the ultimate fighter. Players could create a hybrid archetype of Goku and Vegeta combined or even Gohan and Piccolo. The possibilities are endless.

Story

Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 picks up where players left off in the first game. For a quick refresher, Dragon Ball Xenoverse featured two villains named Mira and Towa. Their goal was to alter the timeline. Shenron then summoned players to help the Z Fighters restore order in their world and defeat the two evil-doers.

Fast forward to the game’s sequel, the premise takes place two years after stopping Mira and Towa. Players receive a mission from Elder Kai to correct the timeline after getting disrupted in the previous installment. However, in order to do so, players must once again face the two main antagonists but this time with more villains supporting them. As players travel to certain events that took place before the timeline gets altered, Mira and Towa will do everything they can to stop that from happening.

PS5 and Xbox Series X|S

With the game soon coming to the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, old and new players might want to give Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 a go. Dimps and QLOC  recently released a road map showing that the game will be active until the near future. As of the moment, the developers launched a free update featuring a new event, new game modes, and increasing the players’ level cap. With that in mind, it’s worth revisiting the game if you’re a returning player and trying the game if you’re new.
