Whoever wins here doesn’t win the series, but sets the tone for games ahead. So, who does NBA 2K24 have winning this one?

Mavericks vs. Thunder Conference Semi Finals Game 1 Results According to NBA 2K24

According to our NBA 2K24 simulation, the Oklahoma City Thunder will defeat the Dallas Mavericks in Game 1 by a score of 134-127. The game was a constant back-and-forth, though Dallas had a slight lead for a duration of the match. However, Shai-Gilgeous Alexander exploded, especially in the fourth quarter as his team dropped 39 points in the final 12 minutes.

TEAM Quarter 1 Quarter 2 Quarter 3 Quarter 4 FINAL
DAL 38 28 33 28 127
OKC 34 27 34 39 134

From the get go, we had a feeling this would be a high scoring affair. At halftime, the Mavericks had a 66-61 lead, but it still seemed the game could go either way. The Thunder slowly crept back, and at the start of the fourth quarter they took the lead. At 3:52, the game was tied 120-120, but OKC scored six unanswered points and the rest was history.

Dallas tried to come back, but a Chet Holmgren 3-Point Jumpshot with just 54 seconds left put the Thunder up by 10 points. Additionally, Luka and the Mavericks struggled to convert several three-point attempts, which slowly chipped away their chances of victory. Despite 16 more Field Goal attempt, the Mavericks failed to convert half of them en route to defeat.

In terms of player performances, Shai-Gilgeous Alexander won the game ball after dropping 69 points. Additionally, he earned 10 assists, two steals, and a block while converting 27 of 33 FG attempts. While other teammates like Chet Holmgrem put up okay numbers, it was Alexander who led the Thunder to a convincing victory. They’ll need him to continue putting up great numbers if they want to make it to the Conference Finals.

As for the Mavericks, Luka Doncic uncharacteristically converted just 4 of 15 three point attempts. Although he scored 38 points, along with earning 11 assists, he was unable to make the shots that could’ve kept his team in contention. Kyrie Irving also put up great numbers, scoring 36 points while earning 8 assists. However, he only converted 13 of 37 FG attempts which did not help the Mavericks’ comeback efforts.

Additionally, check out some game stats:

With the win, OKC now sets the tone for the series, and gives the fans at home a reason to be excited for game 2. Overall, the optimal goal would be to sweep the Mavericks, which translates to less playing, more resting, and hopefully less injury. However, the Thunder aren’t out of this just yet. They’ll hope to win in Game 2 and remain undefeated heading into Dallas.

Dallas loses a tough game on the road, but things could be worse. Just winning one game during this road stretch should be enough to keep the team morale high for when they return home. However, there’s now more pressure on the team to produce actual results, and they’ll need to do so in Game 2.

In terms of accuracy, we’re not sure if the game will end up with a score this high. After all, we recently adjusted our sliders in an attempt to avoid high scoring games. Nevertheless, both teams scored an insane amount of points that seems somewhat unbelievable. That said, it’s not uncommon. In fact, there are nine other real NBA playoff games that ended with more combined points than our simulation today.

Regardless, we’ll continue to strive for more accurate simulations. Unfortunately, the one thing we can’t seem to edit is rosters. Therefore, we just use the most updated rosters provided by 2K Sports. Trying to create custom rosters led to game crashes during our recordings.
